Bordeaux White Wine down by 20% but promising
Bordeaux white harvest is finished and is down by 20%. The first impressions gathered in Bordeaux were that the white wine has a very good concentration and looks very promising and os extremely fine. I believe this is there interest to speak positively about the juice (early wine stage). An early bet to have the right critic. However rain and drought does not always make bad wine as long as it is the right time for the vines ,as the condition was in 2005.
The red wine producer is still indecisive when to start harvesting, they are hopping for better weather. Is been said in Bordeaux “if the next few weeks could be sunny the 2012 vintage could be very good”. Also “since the yield is down 10 to 20 % from 2011. This will only bring the price up to satisfy producers and investors”Contrarily as inspected mid summer an early harvest seems to be out of the picture for few Merlot producers ,who are considering to wait until mid October before harvesting. Some sun and warmth is needed for harvest .
The patience will be key for this certainly challenging vintage in 2012 .
