Pommard wine is only used for red wine with Pinot Noir as the main grape variety. There are no Grand Cru vineyards within Pommard, but several highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards. Pommard wines are typically among the most powerful and tannic of the Côte de Beaune wines, providing a clear contrast to the light and elegant Volnay wines from the neighboring village. Domaine Cyrot-Buthiau is a small family domaine, based in Pommard. This tiny domaine, comprising a handful of hectares, has been in the family for the last 100 years, and is owned and run today by fourth generation Cyrot-Buthiaur and owner. Today owned by Olivier Cyrot this small terraced vineyards are meticulously tended by award-winning winemaker. This young Pommard is true to type: muscular in structure
