Château Haut-Batailley is a wine estate in Pauillac in western on Bordeaux wine area. The vineyard is 22 hectares (55 acres) planted predominantly to Cabernet sauvignon , Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The estate produced around 10,000 cases annually from 35 years old vines.Growing over free-draining gravel soils found in this part of world of the Haut-Medoc.
The Chateau Batailley vineyar and the 'T our l'Aspic' was once a part of the larger estate. Batailley was bought in 1932 by the brothers François and Marcel Borie, who divided it in two in 1942 to avoid conflict in inheritance. François took the smaller property that did not include the physical château and named the estate Haut-Batailley. He increased the size of the estate by buying vineyards, including purchases of plots in 1951 from the Fourth Growth Château Duhart-Milon. Upon his death in 1953, the estate passed to his daughter, then in 1998 passed to his nephew. In 2009 the family completed a total renovation of winerie.In 2017 the property have changing ownership .The proud new owners of Château Haut-Batailley are the Cazes family, which are also the heads Château Lynch-Bages.
Tasting notes: Full-bodied , powerful with oodles of black currant fruit as well as hints of new saddle leather, toast, chocolate, and forest floor.
