Gevrey Chambertin vieilles Vignes, Domaine Rossignols Trapet 2012
Gevrey-Chambertin may be used only for red wine with Pinot Noir as the main grape variety. There are nine Grand Cru vineyards within the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambertin and eight others called Chambertin in combination with something else, such as Chapelle-Chambertin. While Gevrey-Chambertin also has several highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards, it has a particularly large amount of vineyards at the village level for a Côte de Nuits appellation.
The Domaine was founded in 1961 by Jacques Rossignol and Mado Trapet. Both the Rossignol and Trapet families have long and notable histories in the French winemaking industry within the regions of Volnay and Gevrey-Chambertin, respectively. Blended from vines ranges aged from 40 to 80 years old this wine is perfect to keep for few more years or drinking now
Tasting notes: Medium bodied. Berry fruit, black currants and bilberriesa palate with the freshness and richness of fruit from the raspberry scented core. A balanced structure to be able to age well.
