Chateau de la Tour a wine is a widely recognised to be the finest vineyards of Clos de Vougeot. The Clos de Vougeot is part of the Cote de Nuits an extraodinay wine area of Burgundy covering 50 hectares. A dominant site in the area the Clos de Vougeot was first established in 11th and today is divided into 18 parcels. On the upper slopes ,the vineyards of Chateau de la Tour holding 5,5 hectares . The domaine owned by the Labet and Déchelette families since 1984 have managed to produce a staggeringly low yields ( around 25hl/ha) and organicaly wine with no filing or filtration. This wine is made from 80 to 100 years old vines call the Vieilles Vignes (old vines) .
This is dense, powerfully deep wines that benefit enormously from cellaring.A great wine from a vineyard which had been in great need of attention.

Tasting notes: A excellent pinot Noir in its purest form ,well balanced finish with richness and power to the big-bodied. Deep plum-ruby in colour , offering a dense aromas of violets, roses and primary berry fruit, laced with pepper. The palate is similarly aromatic, adding further complexity with darker, spiced notes, hints of fennel and mocha.
