Château la Courolle, Montagne Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, France 2015
Château la Courolle is a typical wine from the satellites wine area bordering the St Emilion appellation. Leased by the Gallo-Roman poet Ausonius in the first century BC, the wines of Saint-Emilion have been appreciated for more than two thousand years.
The château is situated on the plateau of Montagne St-Emilion on argilo-calcaire (clay-limestone) soil, similar to those of St-Emilion itself. The vineyard is planted at 6,000 vines per hectare with 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. Montagne St-Emilion, at the very centre of the St-Emilion region, is steeped in the tradition of winemaking, the vigneronsfiercely proud of its terroir and tradition.
