Château Bourgneuf is a Libournais wine estate in Pomerol, known for its grand vins. The De May (or Demay) family were said to be of Scottish origin, but had lived in France since the Middle Ages, and in Pomerol since the late 1500s. The family became masters of the fief of Sertan, the oldest vineyard in the district. This area also covered the modern vineyards of Vieux Château Certan and Château Certan-Giraud, but was divided up after the French Revolution. Since the death of the last de May in 1925, the estate have change ownership.The domain now his run by the Barreau-Badar family and part of Moueix estate, the famous Petrus wine maker.
The vineyards are spread over 5 hectares set on the gentle slope of the Pomerol plateau.Soil types vary throughout the vineyard, with pure & mix of clay ,sand and gravel. The wine is aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, with 60-80 percent new oak. Around 2000 cases are produced each year.
Tasting note: Full bodied.A creamy, rounded and nature nose , with appealing notes of red and dark fruit. Smoothly cool on the palate, with a lovely sense of freshness .Purity and drive, aided by finely-grained tannins that give this a taut structure
