Corbieres Estate Bought by Foncalieu
The well guarded Corbieres estate,Chateau Haut Gleon,has been purchased by the Southern French co-operative union Les Vignobles Foncalieu,for an undisclosed figure.
The chateau,which boasts 40h of mostly north facing vines in a 260 ha estate,has been run by the Duhamel family since 1991,and produces wines under the Chateau Haut- Gleon,Chateau Glenum,and Domaine de Haut- Gleon labels
The estate has a vault and various reception rooms.It is planned to be adapted into a tourist attraction.
Foncalieu president Michel Batialle said,'We are committed to maintaining quality and dedication to the Duhamel family.'
Foncalieu was founded in 1967,became a co-operative in 1992,and produces 20m bottles a year from 1,200 producers and 7,00 ha of vineyards.
